Item Description
No. 299-D Oliver Surfacer Complete with Sharpening Gantry & Manual - 24 Inch
The 1955 Oliver 299D, a timeless industrial planer, is not just a piece of history. This unit, in particular, has been enhanced with a Helical Head, a sharpening gantry, a sharpener motor, an indexing jig, and includes original manuals. This is not just a purchase, it's an investment in a piece of industrial heritage.
While this unit remains a formidable industrial planer, time has taken its toll. It needs a recommended full overhaul, but it is still minimally operable in some regards. In recent months, it has been subject to dangerous kickbacks and has increased in decibels when in operation. We have established that the machine is no longer appropriate for a school environment.
This planer needs to be sharpened at a minimum. Several knives are cracked and chipped and will need to be replaced. The wiring is 70 years old, and the unit will need careful calibration. Infeed rollers are worn out, and thrown, and outfeed rollers are starting to fail. This could be a remarkable machine for an individual who is prepared to rebuild it. Needless to say, they don't make them like they used to.
Note: This unit weighs an estimated 2800 pounds and will need to be removed from the shop by the purchaser.

The planer is in the middle of the shop so a forklift won't help get it outside. Once outside we can get a forklift there but I am uncertain how that could help us due to the weight and/or lifting the unit. I will check with our operations crew to see what we do with regard to the forklift once we are outside. FOLLOW UP....I spoke with operations, we can get a forklift in place and assist in loading into a truck once it is outside. Buyer would be responsible for getting this outside....maybe a 20 foot run to the outside door.

The shop is on ground level and there is a door to the outside relatively close, 20 feet, to where the planer is. There are shop classes going on so we would need to schedule pick up around this schedule. School is over at 2:00pm each day and I am not against a weekend pickup if that was what worked.

Item location This location is a general area based on the sellers zip code. It is not the specific address where the item is located.
Our Buyers Fees
With Municibid, pricing is clear, up-front and transparent. A buyer's fee (% of the winning bid amount) will be charged directly to the winning bidder upon the close of each auction via the credit card you entered prior to placing the bid. If buyers fee is 8% for bids up to $99,999.99, 5% for bids $100,000 - $499,999.99, and 4% for bids over $500,000.
- Winning bid: $50,000: = Buyers fee: $4,000 (8% of $50,000).
- Winning bid: $150,000: = Buyers fee: $10,500 (8% of $100,000 = $8,000) + (5% of $50,000 = $2,500).
- Winning bid: $550,000: = Buyers fee: $30,000 (8% of $100,000 = $8,000) + 5% of $400,000 = $20,000) + (4% of $50,000 = $2,000).
Where can I see what the buyers fee is?
The current buyers fee will always be shown on the page of the listing under the current price in both the bid area and auction details area. You will also see the buyers fee amount you will pay for your entered bid on the page where you confirm your bid.
What if the selling agency rejects my bid?
If the government agency rejects your bid (they reserve the right to do so) your buyer's fee will be returned, in full, to you within 5 days of notification to Municibid of the rejected bid by the governing body.

If your credit card is declined for insufficient funds, you will be charged a $50 fee.
