Our nimble, efficient, entrepreneurial, and fun team is now hiring a Digital Marketing Manager.

This full-time team member will be an integral part of our team, work directly with our CEO and management, and will have a direct impact on the growth of our company.


Surplus that is up for auction on Municibid is open to the public for bidding. The Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing a fresh, new marketing operation from the ground up to increase exposure of auction items to the public.

The responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to) the following:


This role might be for you if have a working knowledge of the following areas, with the confidence to hire, manage, and coordinate a team of independent contractors and freelancers who are experts in their respective disciplines:


  • Sales funnel - Develop / optimize bidder sales funnel from cold leads/traffic through bidding on / winning an auction.
  • Advertising - Work with existing advertising partners and find opportunities and develop new partnerships across a variety of advertising channels, both online and offline. Work with ad designers to create compelling advertising assets. Work with contractors in listing auction items on partner websites.
  • Website Optimization - Identify / hire / manage contractors and/or freelancers who specialize in search engine optimization (SEO), conversion rate optimization (CRO), and general optimization to increase marketing performance. Experience with Ahrefs and/or related SEO tools is a plus.
  • Email Marketing/Automation - Work with our team and potential contractors to develop, optimize, execute, and manage campaigns, marketing automations, audiences, and forms. Experience with Mailchimp or a similar email marketing provider is essential.
  • Website automation and integrations - Identify opportunities to leverage tools and integrations to automate marketing tasks on our website. Experience with Zapier is beneficial. Experience with form tools such as JotForm or Typeform would be helpful as well.
  • Social Media / PPC Advertising - Identify / hire / manage contractors and/or freelancers to develop, optimize, and manage paid advertising across search engines (mainly Google Ads) and various social media platforms - mainly Facebook and Instagram. This will include tracking and reporting on results.
  • Social Media Development - Increase following and engagement across all social media channels. This includes formulating and executing a new strategy from the ground up.
  • Analytics, Metrics, Reporting - Utilize analytics and reporting tools to measure and report on a variety of data points. A solid understanding of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and metrics tools such as Magento BI (formerly RJ Metrics).
  • Sales Copywriting - Identify / hire / manage contractors and/or freelancers to write creative and engaging sales copy for both transactional and marketing emails, landing pages, and general website copy.
  • Content Development - Identify / hire / manage contractors and/or freelancers to develop content for our blog, social media channels, and email campaigns.
  • PR / Storytelling - Identify / hire / manage contractors and/or freelancers to tell Municibid’s story and create interesting stories around specific or categories of auction items - what winning bidders are doing with their purchases and how governments are utilizing Municibid. Find and develop reporters and media outlets to engage with and to distribute to.
  • YouTube Channel Development - Identify / hire / manage contractors and/or freelancers to develop our YouTube channel from essentially scratch.
  • Podcasting - Work with our team and possible contractors (editors, engineers) to develop a podcast for Municibid.
  • Hiring contractors/freelancers - Experience in finding / hiring freelancers / contractors on Upwork and/or similar sites is a plus. Having existing relationships with contractors or freelancers you can bring to the table is a major advantage.
