This 2003 Ford Windstar was a maintenance vehicle for the City of Northampton’s Central Services department. The van features only a driver’s seat and passenger seat, with an empty rear space. It is currently non-operational and was involved in an accident on November 5, 2010, where it was declared a total loss, but was later salvaged and repaired by the City.
The vehicle is being sold "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees of any kind, and ALL SALES ARE FINAL. This vehicle will require repairs to become functional. The buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle, including arranging and covering the cost of towing.
Bidders are welcome to ask questions or request clarifications, and the City will make every effort to provide the requested information.
William Coffey, the poster of this listing, will be out of the office from October 3rd to October 11th, 2024. For any questions or clarifications during this period, please contact Warren at warbo2@comcast.net.
Q: What was the reason it was taken out of service and so you know if there are any major problems with the engine or transmission?
A: The 2003 Ford Windstar was taken out of service due to brake issues, including a frozen emergency brake, and frequent engine stalling. The check engine light is on, and a mechanic estimated costly repairs. Per City staff, the engine "coughs, sputters, and stalls" and "often fails to perform consistently." I am not aware of any transmission issues. It was involved in a T-bone accident in 2011 but was salvaged and repaired by the City. The van was last driven in October 2022 and is currently not running. This is all the information available.
