This is a 1987 machine in rough condition. At minimum, it will likely need a starter and/or batteries. Brakes need repair. One tire does not hold air and likely needs a new rim. These are the major issues of which we are aware. It is two wheel drive and weighs approximately 14,000 pounds.
Q: I see you posted it runs enough to put up the outriggers, will it move to drive it on a trailer or does it need pulled on a trailer?
A: My crew will make every attempt to get it running enough to drive it onto a trailer. They seem confident that it can be done.
Q: you said "former owner" ? How long has the township owned it ?
A: We completed the purchase on 12/29/2015 and acquired it in January 2016
Q: Do I need an appointment to see it and what is the address please/thank you
A: Our Borough Hall is open from 8 to noon Monday through Friday. The backhoe is in the back of the building. An appointment isn’t necessary. The address is 24 Franklin Street Glendon, Pa 18042 Phone: 610.253.1577
Q: Any interior pictures?
A: I’m sorry, no I don’t. I will get some and post them as soon as I can. I have added four photos showing the interior.
Q: For your reference, we recently purchased a 1996 backhoe Case with a smaller engine in working condition for $3,800. It had been sitting unused for the past five years.
A: Thank You for that information. The previous starting price was a recommendation from the former owner. I have relisted at a lower price.
Q: Does this machine start up long enough to put the out riggers up?
A: Yes
Q: In the pitcher, it looks like the bucket on the front is rusted through on both sides. Is that correct?
A: That is correct. There are some small areas, mostly on the edges or corners of the bucket that are rusted through.
Q: Can you assist loading it to a trailer?
A: I’ve found a couple of volunteers willing to lend a hand with loading the backhoe onto a trailer
