2020 Ford Explorer (Police Interceptor SUV). 3.3 liter V6 with 92,471 miles. Vehicle starts and moves but will begin to misfire and flash the check engine light. Also needs a battery. Current stored engine codes are P0022, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 and P068A.

Q: Is this the vehicle that was diagnosed that needed a new engine?
A: The dealership never diagnosed this as needing a new engine... The dealership diagnosed this as "verified engine light on misfire DTC on all cylinders and DTC p0022 timing off on cold start." Since the vehicle was near the end of its life, we elected not to pay additional diagnostic fees to remove valve covers. Dealership recommended "replace VCT and timing chains with sol."
Q: Does the engine have a loud rattle or ticking noise, especially on a cold start?
A: Not that I've noticed but you are welcome to check it out in person. We are assuming it is a timing related issue but are not 100% certain.
