Q: What’s the gvwr on it? 15,000Lb? Truck is probably overweight empty? Is that the reason it’s being sold?
A: See answer to your question above...
Q: What’s the gvwr on it?
A: The official GVWR is in one of the photos uploaded and that sticker states: 14,000 lbs. Because this truck is equipped with a gas engine, it is lighter than a diesel truck. The estimated weight of the truck - including the stainless-steel dump bed and Fisher V-plow, is approximately 10,000 lbs. This leaves a legal payload capacity of roughly 4,000 lbs . The reason for the sale is simply routine fleet rotation due to vehicle age which is standard practice for our agency. The Housing Authority is a property management entity, and we only move abandoned furniture items, old water heaters, abandoned mattresses, and that sort of thing as an example. The truck has never been used as a construction vehicle and that's why it still looks so good. It does get a workout in the winter months when the sander is installed. It has consistently been a reliable snow removal truck.
Q: Do you happen to know what the Check Engine Codes are?
A: Note about the Check Engine Light in the photo: The truck was only in the auxiliary/accessory (key-on, engine-off) position when the photo was taken. The Maint. Supervisor verified just now that he turned the key to that position so the odometer would illuminate and the low mileage could be clearly shown in the picture. In that key position, all dashboard warning lights, including the Check Engine Light, typically come on as part of the vehicle's normal bulb/system check. When I uploaded the descriptions, I was not aware of this and because we are all about full disclosure, I added a statement about it without consulting the maintenance team, which I will now revise my description, since the good news is, the engine light is not indicating any error! I have since verified that when the truck is started and running normally, there is no Check Engine Light on, no active error codes are present, and the truck drives exactly as it should. The vehicle is ready to go and has no check-engine-related issues.
