I’ve sold on eBay, which is overpriced, and they make it hard to find used parts because they prioritize new parts in their search results. Municibid is way easier to use than eBay, and I like that about you guys. Also, where I give you 300 percent credit is that I can always talk to a person when I need help. For us DPW guys, we’re always out in the field. We don’t have time to wait on an email. It’s nice to get a call from you folks, and I like that you’re able to talk through things in real time when we need you.

We have sold numerous things on Municibid, from large equipment to very small equipment to things we didn’t really think people would want to buy. Municibid was able to reach an audience that allowed us to sell every item. The best thing that happened to us this year was the introduction of the Municibid app. It allows us to go out in the field with a cell phone or iPad and create and post the listing from there.

About

About Borough of Newtown

Newtown at a glance
  • Population1,980
  • Founded1,824
  • GovernmentWarden and board of burgesses
  • Land area2.3 sq mi

The Connecticut General Assembly established the Borough of Newtown in 1824, and it remains an active borough government within the Town of Newtown today. The borough encompasses the historic village center, including the area around Edmond Town Hall, and is home to 1,980 residents according to the Census. It is one of only nine boroughs in Connecticut, a distinction that reflects its long-standing role as a self-governing municipal unit.

The borough operates under a warden and board of burgesses, a form of government that has guided its affairs since its founding. Elected offices also include a tax collector, tax assessor, and zoning officials, who oversee the borough's local governance. Together, these officials continue the tradition of community self-government that has defined the Borough of Newtown for nearly two centuries.
