We have sold numerous things on Municibid, from large equipment to very small equipment, to things we didn’t really think people would want to buy. Municibid was able to reach an audience that allowed us to sell every item. The best thing that happened to us this year was the introduction of the Municibid app. It allows us to go out in the field with a cell phone or iPad and create and post the listing from there.

Kapioma Township traces its roots to February 1855, when the first settlers arrived in this corner of Atchison County, Kansas. The township takes its name from Kapioma, a Kickapoo chief, and the area served as an early Kickapoo settlement site. From 1855 to 1857, Father John Baptiste Duerinck, a Jesuit missionary, worked among the Kickapoo here. A group known as the Kapioma City Company later attempted to build a town along Grasshopper Creek in 1857 and 1858, though the effort was eventually abandoned.
Today, Kapioma is one of eight civil townships in Atchison County, alongside Benton, Center, Grasshopper, Lancaster, Mount Pleasant, Shannon, and Walnut. It is governed by a township board and counts 252 residents, according to the Census. Its history reflects both its Kickapoo namesake and the small-town ambitions that once took shape along the creek.
