Arion Township, one of the townships that make up Cloud County, Kansas, traces its roots back to 1866, when W. M. Wilcox became the area's first settler. By 1878, a county history recorded the township's population at 571, and for a time it was home to its own post office, which operated from 1870 to 1872 and again from 1875 to 1883.
Today, Arion Township is governed as a township, carrying forward a story that stretches back more than a century and a half. The 2016 Census counted 92 residents living here, a smaller number than in the township's early years, but folks in Arion Township still call this patch of Cloud County home.
