We have sold numerous things on Municibid, from large equipment to very small equipment, to things we didn’t really think people would want to buy. Municibid was able to reach an audience that allowed us to sell every item. The best thing that happened to us this year was the introduction of the Municibid app. It allows us to go out in the field with a cell phone or iPad and create and post the listing from there.

About Town of Waldo Fire Department

Waldo at a glance
  • Population852

  • GovernmentTown Meeting-Select Board
  • Land area19.3 sq mi

Settled in 1811 along Wescott Stream, the area organized as Waldo Plantation in 1821 and was incorporated as the Town of Waldo on March 17, 1845. It takes its name from Brigadier-General Samuel Waldo, who once owned the vast Waldo Patent land tract. Early residents built a livelihood from farms, timber bound for Belfast's shipyards, sawmills, and a tannery powered by the stream that still runs through town.

The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad began passing through Waldo in 1870, tying the small community to wider trade and travel. Today, Waldo is home to 852 residents who govern themselves through a Town Meeting-Select Board system, with the town office at 629 Waldo Station Road overseeing local matters from the select board to the fire department, planning board, and road commissioner.
