Can we offer an item to the highest bidder if it doesn’t meet reserve?

If a reserved auction ends without meeting reserve, sellers can click Offer to Highest Bidder from Unsuccessful listings.

Yes. If your auction ends and the reserve price is not met, you can send an offer to the highest bidder.

How to send an offer

  1. Sign in to your Municibid account.

  2. Click My Municibid, then click Unsuccessful.

  3. Find the listing you want to offer.

  4. Click Offer to Highest Bidder.

Once you click this button, Municibid will send the offer to the highest bidder on your behalf.

What happens next?

  • The highest bidder will have 2 days to respond to the offer.

  • We'll keep you updated on the bidder's response.

  • The bidder can accept the offer, decline the offer, and in some cases submit a counter-offer for your review.

If the bidder accepts, we will update the listing to declare them the winning bidder. The sale will proceed under the same terms outlined in your original listing.

Bidders are not required to accept offers if the reserve was not met. If the offer is declined or expires without a response, you can relist the item or keep it.
