Item Description
Up for sale is a 1997 Eastern 27' Commercial Fire/Rescue Boat w/ 2 Evinrude etec 150 engines. This boat is still owned by the original owner, the town of Alton. It was pulled out of service last fall due to compounding issues related to electrical, stress cracks in the hull and engine issues.
The boat originally was an open cabin with a hard top and vinyl sides with a single transom mounted 225hp engine. A refurb. was completed in 2012 to fully enclose the cabin, refinish fiberglass, and install an armstrong engine bracket w/ new engines. Other features include stbd dive door, dual fuel tanks, dual batteries (unknown condition) front and rear bilge pumps, go-light search light, work lighting, cabin lighting, hydraulic steering, front anchor, mount and compartment for anchor line, front to rear wire chase for upfitting/wiring, rosenbauer semi-portable fire pump, navigation/anchor lights, windshield wipers, dual sliding rear cabin doors.
The boat has been regularly maintained in both spring and fall by local marinas. In recent years the boat has undergone fiberglass patch work and refinishing both below and above the water line. However, stress cracks still allow water into the hull from numerous locations. There has been no major damage or accidents noted in this vessels history, suspected problems consistent with industrial useage wear and tare. Stringer rot has also been found below the deck. The lower end on the Starboard engine was replaced 3 years ago w/ throttle and shift cables.
The included Rosenbauer fire pump is also in need of repairs to include controller replacement, primer control lever, and an unknown battery draw issue. The pump suction is plumbed through the deck, discharges are direct off of the pump itself and not plumbed through the boat.
During the fall service, it was noted that the port engine's drive shaft was backing out of the lower end with oil leaking from the seal. The boat has not been operated since this was discovered. This engine has also had periodic issues stalling out unexpectedly with no known cause.
There is no trailer included with this sale, the boat will need to be transferred to the buyer’s trailer at the boat launch in Alton Bay.
The boat will otherwise come as pictured in as is, as seen condition. The town of Alton reserves the right to accept or reject any bid for any reason. All sales will be final with no warranties or guarantees to operational conditions or seaworthiness.
All bidders are strongly encouraged to schedule a time to view the vessel prior to bidding.
