Item Description
1985 Chevy M1010 Pickup truck, former US military. Same as a civilian K30 1 1/4 ton pickup
Vehicle was transferred to the police department in May of 1997 with the M1010 Ambulance body located on the back. The Ambulance body was removed and discarded and the pickup body installed. The rear suspension was never modified for the lighter body so the vehicle rides very hard. Because of the original designation as an ambulance it is equipped with the following equipment:
GM (Detroit Diesel) 379 cu in. (6.2L) J-series non-emissions diesel V-8 engine, 155hp@3600rpm, Transmission is a GM TH400 (Turbo Hydramatic 400) automatic transmission, Manual NP208 transfer case, 200 amp alternator, Dana 60 front and 10.5 in Corporate 14 Bolt rear diff ( My research points towards 4.88 gears), 200 amp / 24 Volt power system.
The vehicle was used primarily as a utility vehicle for the department to get various equipment out to scenes. It was delivered to us with only 13,417 miles on the odometer and currently has 27,462 miles. We stopped using the vehicle when the exhaust broke and we purchased a newer truck. The vehicle has not been started in at least 10 years and we do not have 24 volt jumper boxes so it will require new batteries before attempting to. The body is in extremely good shape considering its first car wash in more then a decade was on the 10th. Cab corners are going to need to be done but the rest of the vehicle is surface rust if anything at all. All police equipment has been removed. The light bar had worked its way loose at some point and allowed water into the cab causing mildew to grow. We did not clean the cab and will be selling it in its present condition.
We have a "Certificate to obtain title" (SF97 form) from the US Government that we will provide for the purchaser. We will also provide a bill of sale from the department/ Town of Suffield . The state of CT does not require a title for vehicles that are more then 20 years of age and will not issue one. If you are from a state that still issues titles to older vehicles you can use the SF97 form to obtain one and be the first title holder.
This vehicle is being sold "as is" and comes with no guaranties. That being said, it is a great start to a cool project or future collector vehicle.
