Item Description

Yamaha M304 Walnut Console Piano
Serial Number: T157496
Condition: Fair
Age: The age of the piano is unknown, but it was most likely built at the Georgia plant in the US, possibly between the early 1980s and early 1990s.
Issue: The left leg is loose or stripped and will not tighten to the screw (see picture below). This should be an easy carpentry fix.
Tuning: In need of tuning - the last tuning was estimated to be years ago.
Playing Action: The playing action is firm but responsive, making it very much playable! If tuned, the piano could be a joy to play.
Dimensions (HxWxD): 43.5" x 58" x 23"

Q:
"How is the condition of the soundboard? Do you see any cracks?"

Soundboard seems to be in good condition. No visible cracks.

Q:
"How is the condition of tuning pins? Do you see loose tuning pins? Would it be able to hold tuning if tuned?"
- Asked by #48392163 08/18/2025 04:32 PM
A:
No loose tuning pins. Would hold tune, but may require multiple tunings before settling - it has not been tuned in quite some time.

Q:
"How is the condition of the strings - especially any signs of rust or corrosion?"
- Asked by #48392163 08/18/2025 04:35 PM
A:
Strings are old, but I see no rust or corrosion. Bass strings are especially vibrant, even shiny. Higher strings, although not rusted, do show shiny wear from the spot in which the hammer strikes the string. Reminds me of the shine that you see on holy relics or statues in the Vatican from all the people touching a specific spot.

Q:
"Any sticky keys? Mushy or uneven feel while playing?"
- Asked by #48392163 08/18/2025 04:35 PM
A:
Just played a chromatic scale from top to bottom: no sticky, mushy, or uneven keys. The action is crisp and snappy, perhaps even a bit hard or stiff. There wasn't the usual "Play a key once and it keeps on ringing" syndrome I have seen in many other old pianos.
