"Has the water pump been changed?" - Asked by #56269831 12/13/2025 12:53 PM |
A: |
This vehicle was taken out of patrol use and given to our code enforcement department for the past several years. I do not have any record of the water pump being replaced.
However, this is a good question because this vehicle's engine has an internal water pump that runs off the timing chain.
This means that if the water pump stops working, it will take a lot more work to get to it and replace it.
This is not an easy job, and often the timing chain, guides, and tensioners should also be replaced at the same time because of the amount of work involved in accessing the water pump.
I am not saying there is anything wrong with this vehicle's water pump, but anyone interested in this vehicle should know that this repair is more difficult than on a vehicles with traditional external water pumps.
