We had an incredible time at our 20th Anniversary Picnic on June 27, 2026 connecting with family, friends, bidders, and sellers. We were nervous about the weather turning into a storm, but luckily we only had a light drizzle that helped us cool down from the heat. Thank you to everyone who joined us at Evansburg State Park. Some of you were next door and some of you drove for hours to make it, and we’re grateful for each of you for taking the time to celebrate this special milestone with us.

How We Got Here

In 2006, a 25-year-old borough councilman in Pottstown, PA watched his town sell a $3,000 police car for $300, then spend the next 30 minutes debating a $1,000 community project. Greg Berry went home and built Municibid for $2,000.

Twenty years later, Municibid has returned over $250 million to government budgets across all 50 states, serves 7,000+ agencies, and has more than one million registered buyers. Towns routinely recover 50–200% more for surplus than they did through sealed-bid auctions, and our platform is free for government sellers. Every dollar goes back to the agency.

These numbers tell part of the story. A big part of the story is all the bidders and sellers who have supported us and been part of our incredible community.

Finally Connecting In-Person

While we’ve talked with a lot of our bidders and sellers over the phone and email, we hadn’t been able to meet all of you in-person before. It was incredible to finally put names to faces.

We heard stories about first wins, favorite finds, and the equipment you've put back to work in your businesses and communities. Those conversations are exactly why we do what we do every day. Municibid has always been about people, and spending an afternoon with so many of you was the best anniversary gift we could ask for.

Live Music from the Nik Greely Trio

The Nik Greely Trio played great songs that had people dancing. While the band had hoped to play our theme song “Worth More Than We Thought” live, they had to switch guitarists last minute and the new guitarist didn’t have enough time to learn our song. But we enjoyed our theme song over the big speakers.

If you haven’t seen the music video for “Worth More Than We Thought,” check it out below. It’s a song rooted in the wins of a small town and small business. This song tells the story of a dump truck listed on Municibid, won by a landscaping company, and put back to work. It's the kind of story that happens on our platform every day.

Food Trucks and Summer Treats

No summer picnic is complete without great food, and the food trucks delivered. Guests grabbed lunch, went back for seconds, and cooled off with ice cream as the afternoon heated up. There's something about eating ice cream under a pavilion with friends that just feels like a Pennsylvania summer.

Games, Prizes, and a Kids Coloring Contest

The whole family had fun with tabletop and lawn games. The cornhole games got competitive. We saw some impressive throws and a few friendly rivalries form throughout the afternoon.

We had a Yeti cooler and cornhole raffles. Plus, plenty of Municibid swag, from hoodies to hats to personalized cards and stickers. The kids had a blast with a coloring contest. The winner, Bryson, loves soccer and was very excited to take home a FIFA soccer ball.

Keeping the Party Going

After the picnic wrapped up, we headed to IronGate Biergarten in Pottstown for a happy hour to cap off the day. It felt fitting to end the celebration in the town where Municibid started, close to where Greg sat in that borough council meeting 20 years ago.

Here's to the Next 20 Years

This picnic was our way of saying thank you, but honestly, we're the ones who feel thankful. To every seller who trusted us with their surplus, every bidder who found something for their business or community, and every friend and family member who supported us along the way: this milestone belongs to all of us.

Twenty years ago, Municibid started as Greg Berry's idea to help his town get a fair price for what it no longer needed. Today, it's a community of more than a million people, and getting to spend an afternoon with so many of you reminded us why we do this every day.

Thank you for 20 amazing years. We can't wait to see what comes next.
