This week on Municibid Mondays Live, Greg Berry, Jameel Farruk, and Sophie Eden shared one of the biggest announcements in Municibid's 20-year history: the official launch of the new Municibid mobile app.

The team gave viewers a first look at the app, demonstrating how buyers can browse auctions, save searches, receive personalized notifications, and place bids directly from their phones. They also reflected on the work that went into bringing the app to both Apple and Android devices and shared plans for future updates.

Beyond the app launch, the episode featured a variety of standout government surplus auctions, welcomed new government sellers from across the country, highlighted recently closed auctions, and even showcased a rare Japanese micro van that quickly became one of the most talked-about items of the day.

The Municibid Mobile App Has Arrived

One of our most highly requested features is now here! The Municibid mobile app is officially available for download on the Apple App Store.

Greg walked viewers through the app's key features, including:

  • Browse and bid on auctions anywhere

  • Save favorite listings

  • Create personalized saved searches

  • Receive notifications when new items matching your interests are listed

  • Manage watched auctions from your phone

The launch represents a major milestone for both buyers and government sellers.

"This is a fully functioning app and we're just really excited to get it in the hands of our buyers and our sellers." — Greg Berry

A huge shout out goes to Municibid's development team, who worked nights and weekends to build the app in-house and get it through Apple's approval process.

If you download the app and enjoy it, leave a five-star review in the App Store. It helps get the word out to more buyers and sellers, and the team would truly appreciate it. The app will be coming soon to Android.

And as Greg pointed out, this is just the start. The app is one of dozens of features and enhancements launched this year, with plenty more already in the works. Download Mobile App

Highlights From Our 20th Anniversary Picnic

The team also shared highlights from Municibid's recent 20th Anniversary Summer Picnic.

Families, friends, bidders, and sellers gathered for an afternoon of food, live music, games, giveaways, and celebration as Municibid marked two decades of connecting government agencies with buyers across the country.

We give a big thank you to Jackie, who went above and beyond organizing the venue, food, and every detail of the day!

Greg shared a special moment, when a longtime bidder shared that he first heard Greg speak at a high school student competition at the Hershey Lodge back in 2012, and had been following Municibid ever since.

It was also a special day for the development team. Director of Technology, Ronald, got to meet customers face to face for the first time and hear directly how much they have noticed and appreciate the features he builds.

We had a Yeti cooler raffle and plenty of Municibid swag, from hoodies to hats to personalized cards and stickers. We had a kids' coloring contest featuring custom Municibid designs of police vehicles and dump trucks. The winner, Bryson, loves soccer and was very excited to take home a FIFA soccer ball.

We’re grateful to everyone who made it, some of you driving from hours away, and made this event a truly special celebration.

New Government Sellers Joining Municibid

Municibid continues to welcome new government agencies from across the United States. This week, the team welcomed 11 new sellers, including:

  • Borough of Malvern, Pennsylvania

  • City of Lake Stevens Parks and Recreation, Washington

  • Economy Borough Municipal Authority, Pennsylvania

  • Millvale Borough, Pennsylvania

  • Rindge Fire Department, New Hampshire

  • Southwest Regional Police Department, Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania

  • Town of North Kingstown, Rhode Island

  • Wellsboro Fire Department, Pennsylvania

Congratulations also went out to the sellers who got their first listings up last week: Slippery Rock Area School District, Lower Kiski Ambulance Service, and Butler County Conservation District in Pennsylvania, plus Sagadahoc County in Maine.

Auction Highlights From This Week

As always, the team highlighted several auctions that caught their attention. One of the favorites was an International fire tanker from East Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jameel explained that retired fire apparatus often attract buyers well beyond fire departments.

Construction companies, farms, and other commercial businesses frequently purchase tanker trucks because they provide an easy way to transport large amounts of water to remote job sites.

And for anyone in the market for an all-black former police vehicle, there were two to choose from: a Ford Interceptor SUV in Maine, and a Ford Taurus Interceptor in Spirit Lake, Idaho at $3,500 with a 3.7L V6 under the hood.

Jameel’s Pick of the Week: A Rare JDM Micro Van

One of the most unique listings featured during the livestream was a Daihatsu Motor Co. LTD Hijet Van.

Jameel’s pick brought some personal nostalgia. Jameel spent much of his childhood in Southeast Asia, where micro vans like this one are everyday workhorses, hauling groceries, farm supplies, and deliveries through dense city streets. Seeing one on Municibid was a first.

Vehicles from the Japanese domestic market can generally only be imported to the United States after 25 years, which makes finds like this extremely rare. With around 132,000 miles, this Hi-Jet is ready for farm work, hauling projects around the house, or simply turning heads everywhere it goes

Jameel's prediction: $8,200. What do you think the micro van will sell for?

Sold Last Week: A $15K Unimog and More

Sophie recapped some of the auctions that closed last week, headlined by a 1987 military Unimog from Neptune City, New Jersey that sold for $15,500.

Originally designed as a tractor that could also drive on the highway, the Unimog has long been beloved by military units and fire departments for its off-road capabilities. This one had just 1,900 miles for a nearly 40-year-old vehicle, and the toolboxes came loaded with a bonus: two jackhammers and a chainsaw included in the sale.

Another notable sale from last week was a 2020 Thomas school bus from Norwich, New York that sold for $18,600. The school bus deserves a special mention. The seller went the extra mile and lifted the bus to photograph the undercarriage, giving bidders a clear look at how well it had been maintained.

Nearly new buses like this one can go right back into service for a school, or become a dream project in the schoolie conversion community, where the tall windows and front visibility of Thomas-style buses are especially prized.
