Purchased new in 2010, this model AZ-550B full-depth reclamation attachment is the most powerful Asphalt Zipper the company had to offer at that time. A 203-horsepower, tier-3-compliant Cummins diesel engine (with 695 pounds-feet of torque) combines with an oil-cooled planetary gearbox to provide more power on heavier projects involving up to 12-inch cutting depths at 48” wide. Factory authorized trailer unit is included in the sale.
Please be aware that you must have a loader capable of handling this large piece of equipment. Washington Township used a CAT 950 with absolutely no problems at all. We will include the sprinkler attachment that mounted on the loader to reduce dust from grinding in the summer time. This is a 200-gallon tank that was modified to fit our loader with a small pump for misting. You can adjust it for your own unit operation.
Remote control of the grinding unit for more precise and safe operation. This person can walk comfortable infront of or beside the machine and make continous adjustments as deemed necessary. This provides for outstanding results on the job.
Only 264.7 hours, yup this unit is barely broken in.
Identification # 500005552
Grind box attachment was $11,195 when new and purchased after the original purchase price of $116,000 for the Zipper unit. This is an additional attachment that contains the materail longer in the grinding machine to allow for a finer end result. This can be easily be removed if you desire.
Comes with operation/upkeep manual and is still supported by the Asphalt Zipper Company.
This unit has been an outstanding addition to our pavement maintenance program and we encourage others to consider this unit to improve and stabilize your road base problems. “If you don’t have a good base, you don’t have a good road.” You can tailgate material down ahead of this unit and with the grind box being attached, you thoroughly mix existing material with the new and lay out a beautiful combined base that is then graded and compacted. You can then pave over this or apply seal coating as a temporary surface for future paving. The possibilities are endless and the power is definitely there with “like new” and well maintained machine. It has helped Washington Township get 73 miles of road out of the mud and now fully paved.
This unit is ready to go to work tomorrow. We suggest that if you haven’t operated one prior, that you contact the Zipper Company for some training. Otherwise start her up and get to grinding.
