Removing or lowering a Proxy Bid

How to remove or lower your proxy/maximum bid

1 min readUpdated November 5, 2026Team Municibid

If you have a proxy bid (sometimes called a maximum bid) on an auction and you wish to remove or lower it, click Release my maximum on the page of the item. This lowers your maximum to the current bid.

Open the listing and find the PROXY BID ACTIVE box. It shows your maximum.

Click Release my maximum. A window asks “Release your maximum?” and shows your maximum dropping to the current bid.

Click Yes, release it to confirm, or Keep it to back out.

Accidental proxy bids are not unusual and may arise from misclicks or misunderstandings during the bidding process. Adjusting or canceling such bids ensures fair participation in the auction.

You can raise this proxy bid at anytime without affecting the current bid.

It is important to monitor your bids closely and double-check your entries to mitigate errors.

For how a maximum works from the start, see All about Proxy Bidding.
